Firearms (P.A.L.) & Hunter Education Courses

Bud Melless – Senior Instructor, Lindsay, Ont.
Shane Melless – Senior Instructor, Lindsay, Ont.

Government certified Firearms Instructors teach you all you need to know to pass the exams required in order for you to obtain your P.A.L. (firearms licence) and or your Hunting License. All it takes is one weekend.

After the course, the successful candidate will be able to safely handle a variety of firearms and have a greater knowledge of the laws associated with owning and using firearms.

There are two government forms that you are required to complete. The form accompanying your P.A.L. (Firearms) exam requires one (1) piece of government issued identification (containing a photo) and the hunter paperwork requires two (2) pieces of government issued identification. One piece must have a photo.  Please make sure you bring these with you on the first day of the course.

Your P.A.L. (Firearms) paperwork will come back to you from the Chief Firearms Office in four to seven weeks. Once you have it back, send it, along with the completed P.A.L. Application that we give you to the Canadian Firearms Center. They will process it and send you your P.A.L. Firearms Licence. If you are under 18 years of age, you will have to contact the CFO’s office at 1-800-731-4000 and request a P.A.L. Application Form for a person under the age of 18 years of age.
Hunter Paperwork, the yellow copy of the paperwork that we give you at the end of the course can be taken to any Ministry of Natural Resources office or any Service Ontario office the day after the course if you wish and you can get a Small Game Licence on the spot.
